Here is a little information that will be of interest to you if you have SOLD a property in Spain.
Between 1997 and 2006, EU property owners were charged 35% Capital Gains Tax whilst the Spanish were only charged 15%.
A recent ruling by the European Court of Justice ruled that this 20% overpayment was discriminatory and against EU law. The ruling paves the way for hundreds of thousands of Europeans to a tax rebate of possibly tens of thousands of Euros.
If you have sold a property in Spain over the last 20 years you will probably be eligible for a refund.
The Spanish legal procedures that rule this refund are complex and may be different for each region and each case.
