The Mar Menor

The area around the Mar Menor is well known for it’s salad vegetables and being almost surrounded by mountains and hills, has it’s own microclimate which results in the best climate in Europe according to the World Health Organisation, with over 320 days of Sun per year.

The Mar Menor itself is Europe’s largest lagoon and is almost cut off from the Mediterranean by the La Manga Strip. The waters of the Mar Menor are clear and in the summer very warm, due to it only being 7m deep at it’s deepest point. The Mar Menor is excellent for bathing and watersports of all kinds, there are many marinas, sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, canoeing and diving schools dotted around the villages such as Santiago de la Ribera, Los Alcazares, Los Nietos and the La Manga strip.
