1. Location – Access. Cheap flights from the UK (just a 2 hour flight) and a good road network when you get here means that it has easy access, particularly from the UK and Ireland. With such a short flight, weekends away in the Sun are a real possibility.
2. Location – The region of Murcia is one of the smaller regions of Spain (about 1 hour across E-W or N-S by car) so it may be quite small – but it is beautifully formed! We have a wide variety of landscapes from the miles of sandy beaches on the Costa Calida, to mountains and historic towns and cities.

8. Strict Planning Rules – with all of this going on you could be excused for thinking that the Region of Murcia is turning into a concrete jungle. However, the region has learned lessons from the Costa del Sol to the South and the Costa Blanca to the north and has imposed very strict planning rules for the Costa Calida and the Region of Murcia that ensure developers produce property that has a sympathetic impact on the environment. It has also allocated several natural areas as parks and will not allow building there at all.
9. Price – Prices for property in Spain have increased dramatically over the past few years and are continuing to do so. However, the Region of Murcia has only relatively recently been opened up to us “foreigners” and property prices are lower here than the Costa Blanca and dramatically lower when compared with the Costa del Sol. With the high quality of property for sale in Murcia, this makes property here a great investment.
10. Climate - I will limit myself to 10 reasons to buy a property in Spain and buy a property in Murcia in particular. My 10th reason has to be our wonderful climate. The area around the Mar Menor and La Manga Strip has been called the healthiest location in Europe by none other than the World Health Organisation. Clean air, over 320 days of sunshine per year and temperatures of the order of 10 degrees C warmer than the UK year round, all go to making our region stand out in this respect.
